Ex- rapper turned preacher 'MC Hammer' has turned his talents to Internet entrepreneurship with his website DanceJam. Described as a ‘YouTube for dancers’, there is controversy as to whether there is a need for another YouTube clone, but so far the website has been received well by the dancing community in the US.
DanceJam was founded by Geoffrey Arone, Anthony Young, and MC Hammer, is a social media destination where users hang out and watch people dance, learn how to dance, or show off their moves online.
DanceJam provides a community where users can watch and rate videos of people dancing, promote their profiles, compete in head-to-head dance-offs and competitions, register and get matched with people who share similar interests, and learn about local dance-related events.
DanceJam has also partnered with Janet Jackson to host online auditions for her upcoming reality show. Janet Jackson and choreographer Gil Duldulao will be looking for singers and dancers to submit their audition videos on the site.
The site also has a new tournament feature, where users can enter and vote on tournament brackets for things like “Best Choreography.” (Source: TechCrunch)
