To check your own messages, simply look at the 'Mailbox' section on the homepage. The Private Messages heading underneith, indicates whether you have 'no new' or '1 new' message. Click on Private Messages which will then take you to your inbox, stating again, whether or not you have any new messages. If you do, click on the message you wish to read.

Alternatively you can check your messages by logging onto your profile page and clicking on the 'Inbox' tab located at the bottom of the page.
