BEEP! You cry out your final note, exhausted, elated; satisfied. A single tear trickles down your smiling face as you look beyond the blinding lights and into the roaring crowd. BEEP! You listen to the thunderous applause as you take your final bow. Their hands are like a thousand angels wings beating in unison, lifting you higher and higher above the clouds...BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! You clumsily lift a hand and slam it down on the alarm clock. It’s 8 am and you’ve a lot of work to do, business plans to write, meetings and rehearsals to prepare for. It’s going to be a long day, but somehow you get the feeling that all eyes are on you.

Every dream has to come to an end. That weary feeling that lets you know you’re back in the real world catches up with us all.

Yes it is possible to live out your dreams, but it comes at a price. You have to work harder than average, and sacrifice the mediocre for the sake of the extraordinary. It can be lonely at times as you watch others going about their day to day business, partying and socialising while you are working towards a deadline.
But as an Independent Artist, you have to ask yourself:

Do I want what everyone else has; the same routine of 9-5 in a job that I can just about tolerate, the same drinking rituals at the same club every weekend, or do I want to fight for something more? Would I rather come home at night and moan about a job that I love, or wake up every morning dreading to go to a job that I hate, but pays the bills?
There is no correct answer to these questions.
Everyone has to work in a job they dislike at some point in their lives. What it comes down to is whether or not you dare to dream.

Dreams of fame and fortune are played out weekly on reality TV shows, which depict a world where fame comes easily; you stand on stage and sing, or you step into a house and say something profoundly stupid and ‘BANG!’ you are famous. That is not reality, that’s an extremely clever and well executed business and marketing campaign that exploits our darkest most basic human desires; to be noticed no matter the cost and to watch people make fools of themselves while we laugh at their expense.

Dreams like this are often short lived and come at a price. Maybe its control of the type of artist you will be, or maybe it’s just your dignity.

Ind-E-Focus believes in Artists getting back what they have put in to their work. We want to create a strong community of Independent Artists who are willing to take a risk on their dreams.

If you are part of a company that is struggling with your project, we want your first stop to be the Ind-E-Focus message boards, where you can get help, advice or just encouragement to keep on going when you feel like giving in.

There will be competitions and prizes for outstanding Independent Artists to gain valuable advertisement space on the Ind-E-Focus main page.

There will also be cash prizes that can be used to help fund your project, taken directly from the Ind-E-Focus donation fund, so what you put in may come back to you tenfold at a later date!

Add the Ind-E-Focus banner to your own website, facebook, or MySpace page to spread the word about your work.

Don’t let reality destroy your dreams.
